“What do you do for English?” “How do you teach spelling?” “What grammar program do you use?” “What do you do for reading?” Because I have used Charlotte Mason’s methods throughout our years of homeschooling our children, questions like these used to throw me. I worried I wasn’t doing all I should do for my children in these various subjects. Well, I realized, eventually (!), that the methods I had been using taught all these subjects, naturally, simply, (dare I say?) even – easily! I now share openly and boldly how I teach all my children with the gentle, natural methods that Miss Mason developed, and how it has benefitted them in all their educational endeavors. You would be amazed at just how much can be accomplished with a few simple exercises – like creative writing, for example. Join us this hour to learn how to cover all these subjects, and more without driving you or your children mad!

“Direct my thoughts, words and work, wash away my sins in the immaculate blood of the Lamb, and purge my heart by thy holy spirit, from the dross of my natural corruption, that I may with more freedom of mind and liberty of will serve thee, the ever living God, in righteousness and holiness this day, and all the days of my life.”

Have you ever wondered how George Washington was able to live such an amazing life? Have you wondered how he stayed so humble with all of the accolades of men that were thrown at him? How it seems like everything he touched, flourished? Well, this book gives us a glimpse into the answer: before there were any of Washington’s victories or Washington’s accomplishments, there were Washington’s Prayers.

This 88 page e-book gives us a brief glimpse into George Washington’s most private life — his spiritual life and his prayer life. We know, from the testimony of those close to him, that he spent much time in his prayer closet each day. We know also that Washington used the Book of Common Prayer in his devotion time. Now we can see in Washington’s Prayers some prayers that are attributed to Washington himself.

This e-book is a reprint of the 1907 work by W. Herbert Burk. Mr. Burk gives us an excellent summary of Washington’s spiritual life, which sets the stage for the highlight of the book — eight prayers of George Washington.

There is an ongoing debate about whether these prayers are actually in the handwriting of George Washington or not. Handwriting experts who have studied the pages are divided with their opinions as to the authenticity of the documents. Since the prayers are very similar to ones found in the Book of Common Prayer that Washington was known to use and likely would have copied into a prayer journal, and since the handwritten pages were found among Mount Vernon’s documents, it is easy to see why many believe these to be in the handwriting of George Washington himself. Whether these pages were written by Washington or not, they are certainly consistent with the humble and spiritual nature of our first president.

The eight prayers cover 24 pages of the book, and then Mr. Burk provides a transcript of the prayers. In the pdf e-book, you could easily print these prayers for use in your personal devotion time.

We are proud to provide the reprint of W. Herbert Burk’s 1907 classic, Washington’s Prayers. Get your copy here today!

Have you ever noticed the similarities between Joshua’s speech in Joshua 24 and Patrick Henry’s “Give Me Liberty” speech? When I began studying these two amazing speeches, I noticed that they had a very similar outline. I concluded that either: 1) Patrick Henry mimicked the outline that Joshua used, or 2) the same God moved both men in their speeches.

Either way, I believe that these similarities show that God was moving in the foundation of the United States of America, just like He was with the nation of Israel.

In Josh & Pat, two actors and a narrator show the similarities in these speeches. The narrator gives the outline and the actors (or readers) quote directly from the speeches. In the end, I believe you will agree that these speeches are not only amazing, but will move you to see the incredible importance of learning our history, how God has blessed us, and never taking it for granted.

Let us not be like the children of Israel who knew not the Lord nor what He had done for Israel.

Perform Josh & Pat for your family, your school or your church and may we remember the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord! Get your copy here (and only here) right now (as in instant .pdf download) for just … $2.97!

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven …”

Reverend Peter Muhlenberg chose this text from Ecclesiastes 3 to preach to his congregation on a December day in 1775. “There is a time for all things, a time to preach and a time to fight… and now is the time to fight!” he exclaimed as he threw open his clerical robe to show the underlying uniform of a Continental Army Colonel. He closed the service and opened the recruitment process to form the Eighth Virginia Regiment, made up of men from his congregation.

Reverend Muhlenberg became Colonel Muhlenberg that day. He later became General Muhlenberg and was a valuable advisor and friend to George Washington during the American War for Independence.

This is the well known part of Peter Muhlenberg’s story. Pulpit and Battlefield will show you much more of his amazing life. For example, did you know that he:

Spent time training with the dragoons in Germany?

Had a fiery temper that he worked all his life to control?

Served in the Virginia House of Burgesses in 1774 and heard many of Patrick Henry’s famous speeches?

Was Vice President of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (while Benjamin Franklin was president)?

Served in the First United States Congress (1788-89) and in the United States Senate in 1801?

In this special historical fiction account you will discover these and many more amazing facts about this fiery minister of the Gospel, brave and heroic General in the war, and respected statesman of integrity.

Download this excellent book here for the price of just $2.97!

This 1922 volume is chock full of illustrations, photos and descriptions of the wonderful things one can see and do in the outdoors on a weekend outing. This book was, obviously, aimed at girls, and as such, the photos concern girls who are enjoying the creation. However, anyone can benefit from the drawings and lessons in this book. As this book shows so well how one can learn to love the ‘wilderness’, as it’s called in the book, it seems to fit quite nicely with this collection.

Charlotte Mason

Charlotte Mason was a wonderful woman who lived in the late 19th century and early 20th century. She was orphaned at the age of 16 and gave her life to educating children. She was far ahead of her time, as most educators saw children as merely buckets to pour lots of information into. Miss Mason, on the other hand, saw children as needing great ideas presented in interesting ways to have their minds quickened into learning all they could about the world, and how they would fit into it. She knew they were capable, intelligent, and thoughtful beings. She believed every child deserved a great education, and that the child’s parents could give it, if they had the right information. So, she set out to teach not only professional educators, but parents how to teach their children well.

As a result of her life’s work, millions of children have been educated with excellence. As the homeschooling movement has enjoyed a resurgence, Miss Mason’s thoughts have again become popular with parents who want to give their children an excellent education.

This book was written in the USA, but many of the lessons presented in this books fit quite nicely within the methods put forth by Charlotte Mason. A quote from the introduction: “The aim of Nature Study is twofold: First, to cultivate the higher nature of the child and lead him toward his Creator; and, secondly, to develop his intellectual powers and lead him to acquire a knowledge of his physical environment.” The lessons are arranged by season, and the author wonderfully links the beauty of nature with the beauty found in the great masterpieces and grand literature. These and other characteristics earned this volume a place in this collection.
